Room types and temperatures
| Room type | Temperature | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Chilled storage room | 0 / +4 °C | Fruit and vegetables, dairy, ready meals, beverages |
| Frozen storage | −18 / −25 °C | Long-term storage of meat, fish and frozen food |
| Blast-freezing room | −35 / −40 °C | Rapid freezing that preserves cell structure |
| Hygienic storage | Product-specific | Food, pharmaceuticals and sensitive products; humidity, air quality and cleanability come first |
| Pre-cooling room | Product-specific | Quickly removing field heat after harvest |
Panel thickness is chosen by target temperature: rooms at −18 °C and below get thicker panels and floor insulation.

Frequently asked questions
How long does the room stay cold during a power cut?
A well-insulated room holds its temperature for several hours as long as the doors stay closed. For facilities storing critical products we recommend a generator connection.
What determines the cost of a cold storage room?
Room volume, target temperature, panel thickness, daily product intake and the level of automation.
