Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an air-cooled and a water-cooled chiller?
An air-cooled chiller rejects heat directly to the atmosphere with fans; it needs no cooling tower, tower pump or water treatment and consumes no water. Water-cooled designs are preferred at very high capacities and in hot climates, with a dry cooler or cooling tower circuit on the heat-rejection side.
How should I select the capacity?
Capacity is calculated from the chilled water flow and the inlet–outlet temperature difference: Q (kW) = flow (m³/h) × 1.163 × ΔT. Because an air-cooled chiller loses capacity as summer ambient temperature rises, a safety margin is added to the calculated value.
What determines the price of a chiller?
